national wildflower centre
Location: Court Hey Park, Liverpool
Budget: £5m
Client: National Wildflower Centre
Size: 2000m²
Design competition for second lottery funded phase of horticultural centre set inside a 19th century walled garden in a parkland setting, to complement the original complex and the recent building by Hodder Associates. The programme was divided between two buildings, respectively containing visitor/conference facilities and commercial seed production.
The unusual programme called for formal invention and ingenuity with tight site constraints, and our scheme uses innovative environmental techniques to modulate the various internal conditions.
