Provisional studies for external furniture and social areas for workers around the BMW Leipzig plant by Zaha Hadid. Undertaken in conjunction with the concept design for the grounds of the factory by Gross Max.

The furniture was designed to facilitate demountability and reconfiguration, and the ‘islands’ were set out in principle to respond to the size and scale of the various courtyards in which they are to be situated. Plans for these areas are awaiting implementation after the building complex was completed and opened to great acclaim in 2005.
