Following an international competition in the 1990s, we were appointed to deliver residential shelters on a remote site off Arran, for Kagyu Samye Ling. A delicate project in many respects, the planning application is running in tandem with a study to provide the majority of the islands’ power from renewable sources. The retreat units include microgeneration technologies and the approach throughout is of a light touch.
